IMEI Registration & Check
Find out if your phone is blocked in Egypt and get guidance on registration
Is Your Phone Blocked?
If any of these apply, your phone may be blocked in Egypt:
- •You've been in Egypt for more than 90 days without registering your phone
- •You brought your phone from outside Egypt (not purchased locally)
- •Your SIM suddenly shows "no service" on your phone only
- •The same SIM works fine in a different phone
Step 1: Find Your IMEI Number
iPhone
- 1.Open Phone app (dial pad)
- 2.Type:
*#06# - 3.Write down the 15-digit number that appears
Android
- 1.Open Phone app (dial pad)
- 2.Type:
*#06# - 3.Write down the IMEI number shown
Step 2: Register Your IMEI
At the Airport (Easiest)
Best time: Immediately upon arrival at Cairo, Hurghada, or other international airports
What to bring: Passport, phone, Egyptian SIM card (optional at this stage)
Cost: $20-50 USD or 500-1500 EGP (varies by airport)
Time: 10-15 minutes
Through Your Telecom Provider
Visit: Any Vodafone, Etisalat, or Orange Egypt store
What to bring: Passport, Egyptian SIM card, phone
Cost: Similar to airport (may be higher if registered late)
Time: 15-30 minutes or same-day online confirmation
Documents You'll Need
- Passport (original or copy) — proof of identity and entry into Egypt
- Your IMEI Number (the 15-16 digit code you found in Step 1)
- Egyptian SIM Card (not required at airport, but helpful for telecom registration)
- Cash (EGP or USD) for registration fees
Already Blocked?
If you're already experiencing blocking (SIM shows no service), you have options:
- 1. Register immediately: Contact any telecom store and register your IMEI. This may restore service after processing (24-48 hours).
- 2. Use a backup device: Temporarily switch to a backup phone while registration processes.
- 3. Get a compliant device: Buy a phone from a local retailer that's already registered with Egyptian networks.
